The Society of Sharing: Inner-City Volunteers partnered with the TTC, First public awareness campaign launch.
On Friday May 3rd , The Society of Sharing: Inner-City Volunteers partnered with the TTC for the very first time to launch our very first public awareness campaign.
This initiative took place at the Yonge-Bloor Subway Station and involved a rotation of volunteers who handed out brochures and spoke to commuters about the work of our agency. It was a very busy and engaging day.
Our volunteers were easily identifiable as they all proudly wore blue t-shirts sporting the logo and name of our agency. We all enjoyed interacting with Torontonians who were receptive to receiving information about the Society of Sharing: Inner-city Volunteers.
Since our day at the TTC we have received calls from people who are interested in volunteering for us. The agency is extremely grateful to the volunteers and board members who participated in this initiative. This event was very successful. We are grateful to the TTC for allowing us to use their premises and for their support.
We are happy to announce that in 2012 our Christmas program was again a great success. We were able to hold the Christmas Party for our clients and volunteers, as well as delivering 120 gift bags. This was possible with the generous support of donors, committed volunteers, corporate donors and community support. We thank everyone who participated in this successful event.
30th Anniversary Gala Dinner held on March 30, 2012.
The Society of Sharing held a gala dinner to honour its 30th year of operation. The well-attended event took place at the Rosewater Room in downtown Toronto. Guests were treated to a delectable dinner, a presentation by motivational speaker Michel Neray, a raffle draw for a Toronto weekend getaway, and a silent auction that featured an array of items from tickets to Toronto’s most popular attractions to original works of art. The gala raised over $12,000 – funds which allows the Society of Sharing to continue its work of serving those in our community who are the most in need. We thank all of our guests for their contributions and our fundraising committee for their hard work in putting together such a memorable and enjoyable evening.
