The Board of the Society of Sharing: Inner City Volunteers is the governing body of the organization. The role of the Board of Directors is to plan, determine policy and be accountable to the contributors so that the stated purpose, goals and objectives of the agency can be attained.
The Board of Directors consists of up to fifteen members who meet monthly. The membership of the Board is such that there is a variety of expertise and representation from which to draw upon. Within the Board exist several committees – executive and finance, fundraising and communications, program and planning, and nominating.
A Board Member is expected to:
Keep informed about the activities of the agency and the community and service area in which it operates
Attend Board meetings and related committee meetings
Be informed of the Articles of Incorporation, its by-laws and its code of regulations that relate to the duty of a board member
Exercise the utmost good faith in all dealings with the agency
Make a serious commitment to participate actively in committee matters
Prepare for meetings by reviewing minutes and reports
Get to know other committee members and build a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus
Participate in the committee’s annual education and planning efforts
Participate in fundraising activities for the agency
If you are interested in becoming a Society of Sharing Board Member, please submit your resume for the review and consideration of the nominating committee. The term commitment for a board member is for one to three years.
Enthusiastic, motivated candidates, people with experience or background in law, accounting, business or fundraising are encouraged to apply.
